Just Breathe

Imagine a little voice inside you saying, "Hey, remember how much you used to love painting?" So, you pick up a brush and start again. Now, imagine you're stuck in a deep depression. You start painting anyway, just for yourself. Then, others start to notice. They ask, "Can you paint a picture of my family?" So you do. You pour yourself into your art, and when you hand over these paintings, you see something you didn’t expect—people tearing up, thanking you. And suddenly, you realize something: even in your darkest moments, you can create something beautiful.

Now, imagine you start talking more. You pick up a new language, maybe French, and you start sharing what you've learned. People listen. They feel inspired. They see something shift in you—and in themselves.

Then, one day, someone tells you, "Every time you sing, it makes me feel like I can breathe again." So, you start singing more. Maybe it’s in your room at night, maybe in the car. And when people hear you, they feel lighter, even if just for a moment. They close their eyes and feel like they can breathe too.

Now, imagine that voice inside speaks up again: "Matt, draw. You love to draw, remember?" So, you sharpen up your pencils and start. At first, it’s just you. But a month later, 60 others are drawing with you. And something changes—fewer arguments, fewer bad days, more moments of clarity.

The air feels different. Because no matter what’s going on, you’ve found something no one can take away from you.

Being able to breathe again isn’t about where you are; it’s about who you are. It’s not something anyone can give you—it’s something you claim for yourself.

Now, imagine life starts throwing obstacles at you. It takes things away. You wonder, "Why does everything keep falling apart?" But then, it hits you—you just needed to be still long enough to remember who you are. You weren’t fighting for air. You became breath itself.

And then, one day, everything shifts. Something you thought was unchangeable suddenly isn’t. You get a call, a message, an opportunity—something you never expected. And you realize that by pouring into yourself—through art, through movement, through connection—you’ve created something bigger than yourself.

That’s the power of truly being able to breathe. It’s not about understanding it completely. It’s about feeling it. It’s about remembering that no matter what happens, it’s always been inside you.
